Improving study skills
I have given a couple of classes on this topic. Actually the topic was improving your grades. There are two issues:
- Improving your rapport with the teachers/professors and such. To this end where you sit is important. The second row of chairs near the center (that is to say near the teacher's habitual spot) allows you best eye contact and give you a "halo effect." At the same time you will actually learn better since you will be forced to be more attentive. However, do note the best learning position in the next section. There may be conflict between the two. However, it has been demonstrated that:
- Attentive appearing students get better grades.
- Neat clean papers get better grades than dirty papers with the same content.
- Students who smile get better grades than those who frown.
- Improving your learning capacities. To this end it is important to note that:
- all learning is done unconsciously and hence if you can achieve a learning trance you will learn better.
- We each have a favored learning position. For example I pre fare to be in the front row center. While another may learn best if she sits near the back and a third may prefer to sit in the middle. This does conflict with the second row center ideal position for establishing rapport with the teacher.
- We each have a favored learning mode of sensing. Thus some like to see images in their minds (and externally) they learn best through illustrations. They tend to make great visual artists. A second type listen to the tonality of the sound. These tend to best at musical fields. Others prefer listening to the words. These tend to excel at rational academic fields. Others learn best by bodily feelings, kinesthetics. These tend to excel in sports and dance. Note that a good teacher will use all four modes (visual, auditory (tonal), auditory digital, kinesthetic) of communication.
- There are many ways of improving your memory. Most of these entail some kind of visual association (related to hypnosis and trance).
After teaching the above (and more) to the students I hypnotize them and give them self confidence and ego strengthening and give them suggestions for them to learn better.
