Panic attack cure
Whereas, General anxiety is more likely to be extended in time, panic attacks are triggered by specific triggers and have some of these symptoms:
- shortness of breath
- feeling that you are about to die of lack of oxygen
- dizziness or faintness
- shaking or trembling
- unusual sweating
- choking feeling
- nausea or stomach distress
- numbness or tingling sensations
- hot or cold flashes
- feeling unreal or out of touch with your body
- chest pain or discomfort
- fear that you are dying or will fie immediately
- fear that you are going crazy
- wishing to kill yourself just to get the attack over
I know the above symptoms well as I suffer from panic attacks. In my case these are set off by swallowing water the wrong way. I think this panic attack arose from the fact that I suffered from double pneumonia when I was three months old. My lungs were filled with fluid and I nearly died. I must have had plenty of water in my lungs at the time and now the slightest amount of foreign material just entering the top of my wind pipe starts the panic attack and I start choking and wish I could die. I have to slowly control myself and relax. Once I relax the attack (the physical parts of it) starts to diminish and slowly I cough the water out. The whole episode which is rare does not last very long but it is an interesting experience to observe a panic attack from the inside, but trust me even though it is interesting from a detached scientific point of view it's not fun.
It is interesting that just writing about these events has given me a sore throat and I need to do some relaxation in order to answer next question. When dealing with cases of panic attack in others I would use progressive relaxation and then put the person in the situation which causes their panic attack and mentally rehearse breathing while relaxed in the fearful situation. This is basically using systematic desensitization. I have never had a client (other than myself) with panic attack. I most probably would do an NLP fast phobia cure on the person as well as rounding up with some EFT and Time-Line work.
In fact a few years after I had originally written the above I got a very bad nose infection and little fluid kept going up my windpipe. This forced me to learn to relax each time and I still hate it when it happens but I ended up doing a systematic desensitization on myself without realizing it.
